Introducing Integrated Restaking Vaults
The Symbiotic integrated vault is a game-changer for the restaking ecosystem. It allows users to stake and restake ETH in one place, eliminating the need for multiple protocols and reducing smart contract and integration risks. Here’s how it works:
- When a restaker deposits ETH, it is staked on validators run by professional, verified node operator partners.
- Active, validated stake is restaked and delegated to Symbiotic networks in a slashing-attributable way. As a result, vaults are fully risk-isolated and need no overcollateralisation, which maximises capital efficiency for stakers!
- Rewards accounting for both staking and restaking is handled in a single vault. Stakers own shares in the vault and have exclusive control over it, boosting security.
- This self-contained system operates independently of Byzantine governance, providing a segregated, dedicated restaking environment that minimizes systemic risk.
For networks, this means direct traceability of funds and a less abstracted security model. Networks can easily identify which operators handle ETH validation for a specific Symbiotic vault, ensuring accountability and reducing the risk of cascading slashing events.
